Sjoerd Sipma has been interested in birds from an early age. He lives in the province of Groningen, where everyone sooner or later will come into contact with birds of open landscapes.

Coast, salt marsh and fields. As a board member of the former Dutch Montagu’s Harrier Foundation, he committed himself in various ways to protecting harrier nests, contributing to the monitoring of field birds, systematically mapping the rough-legged buzzard and also as a valued member of research trips to the east of Poland and Morocco.

Sjoerd is a chairman of the Harrier Conservation International Foundation since January 1 2024. In this position he intends to contribute to our small but decisive organization with positive energy, with the same focus and pleasure as he did for the Dutch Montagu’s Harrier Foundation at the time. This all to take the harrier research and conservation to the next level.
