Harrier Conservation International
Harrier Conservation International is founded with the aim of connecting an international network of harrier researchers and conservationists. Harriers are showing us the way to the knowledge we need to enable scienced-based protection worldwide. We see good opportunities for entering into balanced partnerships in the breeding areas of, for example, Montagu’s Harriers and Marsh Harriers that help us to balance the habitats of Harriers in relation to land use (agriculture and nature conservation). Independent scientific research will – we believe – play a decisive role in this. We also want to show how beautiful these elegant birds of prey are and hope to give a stage for this through our organization. Beauty is after all the beginning of consciousness.
Advancing understanding
In addition to devising effective agriculture/conservation concepts based on advancing understanding, it is also important to know that Harrier Conservation International will focus on the meaning of stopover areas, wintering and also trying to understand how, for example, climate changes affect migration and survival. The annual cycle of harriers to arrive at a species-level system approach in breeding areas, during migration and wintering. In the past we have already shown how this works in various ways.
